Professional Development Scholarship & Grant Opportunities

Professional Development Scholarship & Grant Opportunities

Agents and other educators are constantly learning -  seeking new information that can be used to improve our programs and ultimately provide better opportunities for the youth that we serve.

The true value of Professional Development includes not only the benefit to the educator, but also the ultimate impact that it has on the audience served.  For this reason, the TAE4-HA supports members in their pursuit of PD endeavors by providing encouragement and financial assistance.

Annually, the TAE4-HA Professional Development Committee awards approximately $1,200 in grants and scholarships to Association members.

New Member Scholarships:  To promote new member participation in the TAE4-HA Annual Conference, up to 5 scholarships are awarded in the amount of the registration fee.    Members with less than two years of experience, as of July 1, 2011, who have not previously attended the annual state conference, are encouraged to apply.  (Recipients must attend the 2011 conference.)

Professional Development Grants: TAE4-HA also awards grants for graduate study, applied research, interstate or intrastate travel, educational conference/seminars, workshops and other worthy projects. Grants up to $550 may be awarded to individuals or groups based on the merit of their proposal.

The applications for each of the above opportunities are attached and must be received by July 1.  Mark your calendars now to make plans to submit an application!

If you have questions concerning the application information, please contact the Professional Development Committee Chair, Cindy Bryant ( CPBryant@ag.tamu.edu ).

Applications will be available on the TAE4-HA Website very soon!

2011 TAE4-HA Conference Proposals

The District 9 4-H Agents Association would like to invite all who are interested to submit a proposal for presentation or poster display at the 2011 TAE4-HA State meeting to be held in Beaumont, Tx  August 3-5, 2011.  Proposals are due May 1, 2011.

The meeting theme is “Spice it up 4-H Style,” but do not let the theme dictate your proposal consideration.  All proposals with well established teaching objectives, and relevant content will be considered.  There are a limited number of opportunities for presentations, but the selection committee will work hard to make sure those topics of the highest relevance are chosen for the conference.

When making your decision to submit a proposal please consider the following:  Flexibility in the length of your presentation and your willingness to present your information on an educational poster will enhance your odds of being selected.  Additionally, topics that are considered high priority by your Extension Coworkers will be viewed more favorably.  Lastly, proposals that are aligned with the educational missions of NAE4-HA will have an advantage.

To see the types of presentations and guidelines for proposals please refer to the NAE4-HA Presenters Handbook.  The guidelines in the handbook are more in-depth than is actually necessary for the state process, but having followed these guidelines your proposal will be sound and you will be ready for the eventual presentation.

Submitting Proposals:
Proposals can be submitted by going online and completing the online proposal form (http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?formkey=dE9QWEdjUExQS2ZoMlhONHlLZnY3TVE6MQ) or Click on title of Blog Post.

Please contact Kevin Chilek if you have further questions at kchilek@ag.tamu.edu.
